Nov. 5, 2007

Chicago, Ill.- Junior back Pat McMahon (Bolingbrook, Ill./Benet Academy) was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the period ending Nov. 4th.

McMahon led the Flames to a pair of shutouts this past week, helping UIC notch critical overtime wins against Valparaiso and Loyola to take the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament.

Most impressive was McMahon's marking efforts against league-leading scorer Michael Ferguson of Loyola. Ferguson, who had 15 goals in 17 games previous to this past Saturday's contest against the Flames, was unable to uncork an attempt with a clear view of goal all evening.

UIC will begin the 2007 Horizon League Men's Soccer Championship this Sunday night against the winner of Friday's match between Wright State and Valparaiso. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. Central.
