Box Score

Youngstown, Ohio - Junior Danijel Zoric scored a career-high 19 points and the UIC men's basketball team remained undefeated all-time versus Youngstown State with a 70-63 victory at the Beeghly Center on Thursday night.

The Flames (11-12, 4-7) swept the season series from the Penguins (7-14, 4-7) and are now 15-0 all-time versus YSU.

UIC, which shot 50% from the field, had four players scored in double figures in the contest, led by Zoric. Senior Justin Bowen added 15 points and nine rebounds. Junior Jovan Stefanov tabbed a season-high 13 points, nine boards and five assists. Freshman Josh Mayo finished with 10 points, including a pair of game-icing free throws with :37 left.

Junior Keston Roberts paced the Penguins with 17 points. Junior Quin Humphrey, the Horizon League's leading scorer and rebounder, was held without a field goal in the first half and finished with 12 points on 3-for-11 shooting.

Serbia & Montenegro natives Zoric and Stefanov got the Flames going early, scoring the team's first 12 points as the Flames opened up a six-point advantage. YSU attempted to get back in the game, but sophomore Kevin Bond came off the bench to keep the Penuins at bay with a pair of key three-pointers which led to a 39-34 UIC lead at halftime.

Youngstown State would tie the game on a pair of occasions in the second half, but the Flames answered the bell on each occasion.

With the score knotted at 60-60 with 5:28 left, UIC rattled off six straight points to take a lead it would not relinquish.

The Flames out-rebounded YSU, 36-23, and committed just seven turnovers in the contest.

UIC will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 4th, when the Flames welcome Detroit to the UIC Pavilion at 3:00 p.m., for a game being aired nationally on ESPN2.
