Chicago, Ill. - The UIC men's basketball team's starting five accounted for all of the team's scoring on Saturday night with each player reaching double figures as the Flames posted their fourth straight victory with a 74-57 triumph over Cleveland State on Saturday at the UIC Pavilion.

With the win, UIC moves over .500 for the first time this season at 8-7, improving to 3-2 in Horizon League play. The Vikings, meanwhile, dropped to 4-9, 1-4 in league action.

Junior Elliott Poole totaled a career-best, double-double to lead the Flames, tallying 16 points and 12 rebounds. He was a perfect 8-of-8 from the foul line.

Senior Armond Williams led all scorers with 17 points while adding eight rebounds and four steals. Senior Cedrick Banks had a solid all-around night with 16 points, a career-high tying six assists, five rebounds and four steals. Sophomore Jovan Stefanov (14 points) and junior Rocky Collum (11 points) rounded out the scoring for UIC.
 

 

Senior Omari Westley paced Cleveland State with 15 points and nine rebounds.

The scored was tied at 29-29 at intermission, but a 15-2 run by the Flames to open the second half gave UIC a 44-31 lead it would not relinquish. Four different players scored during the Flames' surge with Williams leading the way with six points.

The Flames shot 60% overall in the second stanza, outscoring the Vikings, 45-28.

UIC will be back in action on Thursday, January 20th, when they host Detroit at 7:00 p.m.
