Chicago, Ill. - The University of Illinois at Chicago baseball team will be looking to put the Horizon League regular-season race out of reach this weekend, as the Flames will travel to Ohio to square off with Youngstown State for a four-game series, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night at Eastwood Field. UIC is currently riding a four-game winning streak and holds a 3½ game lead over Cleveland State for first-place in the Horizon League. The Flames are coming off of a 9-3 non-conference victory over Northwestern on Tuesday night. Senior catcher Mike Hughes went 3-for-4 with a homer, his 12th of the season, and three RBI. Hughes also connected for his eighth triple of the season, breaking the previous single-season record of seven three-baggers, set by Dave Heinzl in 1976. Youngstown State outfielder Kendall Schlabach leads the Penguins offensively, batting .333 with a team-high, 48 hits and 33 runs scored.
