Chicago, Ill.- The UIC baseball team will take a two-game break from Horizon League play this week with contests against Northwestern and Michigan State.

On Tuesday afternoon the Flames (26-16) will travel north to Evanston to face the Wildcats (13-32) at Rocky Miller Park at 3:00 p.m.

That will be followed by a game on Wednesday against Michigan State (18-23) at UIC's Les Miller Field at 6:05 p.m.

The Flames are 20-9 against Big Ten opponents in head coach Mike Dee's eight previous seasons.

UIC has won 20 of its last 24 games and is coming off a three-game weekend road sweep over Youngstown State.

Pacing UIC at the plate is senior CF Larry Gempp Jr. (Ingleside, Ill./Grant H.S./College of Lake County). Gempp is making his final season his best with team-leading totals in average (.394) and RBI (41).

In the last three weeks Gempp is hitting .467 (21-for-45) with three of his four homers and 17 runs batted in during that span.
