Box Score

Fairborn, Ohio- The UIC baseball team broke open a wild back-and-forth affair by scoring the final nine runs of the game to eliminate UW-Milwaukee from the 2006 Horizon League Tournament with a 14-6 victory at Nischwitz Stadium.

In a game that featured five lead changes in the first five innings, the Flames (35-19) overcame a 6-5 deficit on Ted Rosinski's mammoth two-run homer over the Nischwitz scoreboard behind the right field wall to reclaim the lead for good.

UIC added plenty of insurance thereafter, scoring seven runs in the last three innings.

Zach Peterson went the distance for the fourth time this season, striking out seven Panthers and scattering nine hits.

After allowing six runs in the first five frames, Peterson settled down to hold UW-Milwaukee (32-25) scoreless the rest of the way.

Rosinski (3-for-4) and Larry Gempp Jr. (2-for-5) each drove in three runs.

Mark Hallberg went 2-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored.

The Flames pounded out 16 hits off of Panther pitching, marking the ninth time in the last 11 games that UIC has posted a double-digit number in the hits category.

UIC now awaits the losing team of the Butler/Wright State semifinal on Saturday. The Flames will take on either the Bulldogs or the Raiders at 3:00 p.m. EDT in an elimination game at Nischwitz Stadium.
