Chicago, Ill. - Senior designated hitter Chuck Peters and junior outfielder J.P. Moran went a combined 5-for-10 with five RBI and three runs scored to help lead the University of Illinois at Chicago to the 10-0 non-conference victory over Chicago State at Les Miller Field on Wednesday evening.

Peters went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Moran was 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored to pace the Flames' offensive attack.

With the victory, UIC improves to 27-13 and extends its home-winning streak to 24 games dating back exactly one year when the Flames dropped an 8-4 decision to the Kansas Jayhawks on April 30, 2002. Chicago State falls to 6-35 on the campaign.

UIC also received solid offensive performances from junior outfielder J.P. Carey (2-for-3, 2 runs), Brad Ryan (2-for-3, RBI, run), Chris Kerpan (2-for-2, two runs, homer) and Kevin Nelson (1-for-3, 2 RBI).

Mike Slowik and Brian Grippo each picked up two hits for Chicago State.

Junior starter Eric Carlson (1-2) picked up the victory for the Flames as he, Marcus Goodman, Bill Bernabei, Charlie Hahn, Ryan Martin, Ryan Gehring and David Haehnel combined for the seven-hit shutout.

Chicago State starter Jason Stamper took the loss for the Cougars, allowing two runs and three hits in two innings of work to drop to 0-8 on the season.
 

 

UIC will be back in action on Friday evening, as they will host Cleveland State for a Horizon League contest at 7:05 p.m. at Les Miller Field.
