Pocatello, ID-- ISU Women's Tennis was overcome by Eastern Washington 7-0 at Reed Gym on a windy Sunday afternoon on the outdoor courts. The Bengals lost six of the six singles matches. The Bengals' season record falls to 1-4 with a Big Sky record of 0-2. The Bengals lost three of the three doubles matches putting them behind 1-0 early in the match. Sophie Dang and Lisel Lewis' first doubles match together was a close match. They were eventually defeated by Marie Demerath and Amanda Mankovits 8-5 at number three doubles. Idaho State then lost six of the six singles contests to take the 7-0 loss. Freshman, Lewis started off strong but was defeated in a tie-breaker by Kasey Knox 7-6(4), 6-2 at the number one singles spot. Senior, Katherine Zigars was up 5-2 in the first set but was overcome by Rachel Berger 7-5, 6-0 at number four. Sophomore, Stephanie Roldan nearly put her opponent Amanda Mankovits into a three set match but was defeated 6-1, 7-5 at the number five spot. Eastern Washington's season record improves to 6-9 with a Big Sky record of 4-2. The Bengals will hit the road to play University of Northern Colorado April 7th in Greeley at 11 a.m. Doubles: |
