ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball team dropped a pair of American Southwest Conference West Division games to Texas Lutheran, 2-0, 7-1, Friday afternoon at Morck Field in Seguin. The Cowgirls got a solid pitching performance from Brandi Wicker in the first game as she scattered eight hits and allowed only two runs in a complete game loss. She locked up in a pitcher's duel with the Lady Bulldogs' Amanda Stevens, who allowed just two hits and struck out eight. Mia Lopez and Ember Strand had the only hits for the Cowgirls. Crystal Miranda scored both runs for the Bulldogs one in the third and one in the fifth. She was driven in by Amy Bahlen both times. In game two the Bulldogs scored two runs in the first, third and fourth innings to take control. Keri Ivey took the loss for the Cowgirls on the mound. Lauren Dobson allowed just four hits to take the win for TLU. Miranda Rousett, Lopez, Ashley Lang and Ivey had hits for the Cowgirls. HSU fell to 6-22 with the loss and 3-16 in ASC West play. The conference-leading Lady Bulldogs improved to 20-6 overall and 16-3 in ASC West play. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday at noon. |
