ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball team played its first-ever games at its new field and dropped a doubleheader, 13-0 and 8-0 to Tarleton State, Saturday in Abilene. The Cowgirls fell 13-0 in the first game as the TexAnns pounded out 17 hits and turned five Hardin-Simmons errors into scoreboard damage. Cassie Elder led the Cowgirl attack with two hits and Miranda Rousett, Brittney Henry and Amber Pierce each banged out a single. Brandi Wicker took the loss on the mound to fall to 1-2. In the second game, Tarleton pounded out 15 hits, including a home run by Rhiannon Sanderfer. Carla Geesling got the win on the mound. HSU had three hits, one each by Elder, Sarah Duke and Elizabeth Simmons. Keri Ivey took the loss on the mound. The Cowgirls are now 1-5 on the year, while Tarleton State improved to 12-2. HSU is off until the ASC First Pitch Tournament on March 5-6. --- HSU ATHLETICS --- |
