ABILENE, Texas - Freshman goalkeeper Christi Carr and senior midfielder Whitney Piendak have been named all-Americans by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Carr, a freshman from Pleasonton, was great for the Cowgirls from day one and had a strong run in the NCAA Tournament. She was the first freshman in HSU history named first-team All-American. She went 18-1-4 on the year in the pipes with a 0.65 goals against average.

Whitney Piendak was named to the second team as a midfielder. She set a school record for goals with 30 and she also added 13 assists.

Both players were on the all-region team along with freshman forward Amy Kuykendall and junior sweeper Laura Newbrough. Kuykendall was named all-American by D3kicks.com last month, to give the Cowgirls two All-Americans as freshmen.

HSU went to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament and finished the year ranked sixth in the nation.
