Cowgirls Continue To Roll

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team improved its winning streak to eight games with a 6-0 rout of UT-Tyler, Saturday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.

Morgan Loyd opened the scoring for the Cowgirls in the fourth minute. Mindi Zamora got the assist. The Cowgirls kept the pressure on and kept the scoring chances coming and added a late goal on a corner kick in the final minute of the first half. Midfielder Jacky Cox got her third goal of the year and first of the game when she headed in the corner kick from Regan Cappella.

Whitney Piendak added a pair of goals early in the second half and increased her season total to 10 goals. Cox got the assist on Piendaks' first goal.

Rebecca Neal and Kelsey Jensen finished up the scoring for the Cowgirls with impressive goals respectively. Cappella and Meredith Barron had the assists.

April Johnson and Ashley Jackson split time in net again with Johnson getting 76 minutes and Jackson putting the finishing touches of yet another shutout for the Cowgirls. The Cowgirls have six shutouts out of their last eight games.

HSU improves to 10-1-0 for the year and 7-0-0 in ASC action and hosts UT-Dallas on Sunday at a 3 p.m. start time. UT-Tyler drops to 4-6-1 and 2-3-1 in conference play.
