ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' seventh-ranked women's soccer team opened its 2005 season with a 2-1 win over The College of the Southwest, Thursday evening at Shelton Stadium in Abilene, Texas. The Cowgirls extended their home unbeaten streak to 54 games as they scored two goals in the second half. Whitney Piendak scored in the 54th minute on an assist from Jessica Flobeck. Ryanne Arnold scored in the 65th minute to tie the game for the Mustangs. HSU put the game away in the 81st minute when senior Elaine Pallarez scored on a double assist from Mindi Zamora and Beth Craig. The Cowgirls outshot the Mustangs 16-1 in the game. HSU returns to action on Friday at 4 p.m. at Shelton Stadium against Carthage. |
