ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team draws first tie of the season (1-1 in 2 OT) in American Southwest Conference action against Schreiner Thursday night at Shelton Stadium. The game was scoreless in the first half. During the 88th minute of the game, Schreiner forward Stephen Schanne shot the ball on goal, which was deflected into the goal by HSU player Marcus Jackson. Schreiner led the game 1-0. Kyle Rampy, a sophomore midfielder and defender for the Cowboys, quickly scored off of an assist from James Burton, the ASC West Offensive Player of the Week, in the 89th minute just seconds before regulation to tie the game (1-1) and sent it to overtime. This is Rampy's first goal of the season. The teams went scoreless in double overtime, which draws a tie. HSU moves to 1-0-1 in ASC play and 4-3-1 overall and Schreiner moves to 3-0-1 in conference and 6-0-2 overall. The Cowboys will return to action when they host Texas Lutheran Saturday with a time change to 5 p.m. at Shelton Stadium. |
