SALADO, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team improved its position one place in the final round of the Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational, improving to ninth place with a 317 in the second round. The two-day, 36-hole event was played over a par-71, 6,502-yard layout at Mill Creek Country Club in Salado. The College of the Southwest won the team title with a 293-294=587. Texas Lutheran finished second with a 300-289=589, one stroke ahead of third-place LeTourneau's 300-290=590. Trinity finished fourth at 294-310=604, two strokes ahead of Mary Hardin-Baylor. McMurry finished sixth with a 302-305=607, U.T.-Tyler took seventh with a 302-310=612, Southwestern University finished eighth with a 315-314=629, Hardin-Simmons University was ninth at 314-317=631 and the UMHB JV (313-326) and Lubbock Christian University (311-328) tied for 10th place with 639's. Amory Droogsma of College of the Southwest won the individual title with a 70-69=139, three shots ahead of teammate Matt Dietrich's 70-72=142. Chris Clifton led the Cowboys with a pair of 76's to finish at 152. J.C. Eagle shot 77-80-157, Chris Elliott shot 81-78-159, Michael Weehunt fired and 80-83--163 and Davey Davis finished 818-85-166. Travis Brown shot 89-81 playing as an individual. The tournament ended the fall season for the Cowboys. |
