FRANKSTON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team shot a third round 311 to finish in fifth place at the American Southwest Conference Championship at Prairie Dunes Resort and Golf Club in Frankston, Texas.

The Cowboys were in sixth place after the first round, but their 304 was the second-best effort in the second round and moved them to fourth. The Cowboys finished fifth 30 shots behind champion Texas Lutheran with a 317-304-311-932. Mary Hardin-Baylor was second with a 914 and LeTourneau finished third with a 917. UT-Tyler was fourth with a 929.

Junior J.C. Eagle earned All-ASC honors with a fifth-place finish. He shot 77-75-76--228. Davey Davis shot a 78 in the third round and finished at 234. Paul Schaub had the Cowboys best round on Tuesday with a 75 and finished 23rd at 235. Michael Weehunt shot 83 and Travis Brown 82 on Tuesday and finished 29th and 30th respectively.

Texas Lutheran's Michael Faterkowski won the medalist honors with a 212 as he sandwiched a 76 with a pair of 68s to win the title by eight strokes.

The Cowboys season likely ended, but Eagle has an outside shot at the NCAA Tournament as an individual.
