Jan. 7, 2003 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team dropped a 75-70 decision to Colorado College, Tuesday evening at the Mabee Complex. The Tigers were clutch down the stretch hitting 12-of-14 free throws in the final two minutes of play. HSU had a chance to tie the game at 71 when Carl Thompson missed a fade-away 3-pointer with 11 seconds left. CC gathered the rebound and sealed the game with two free throws. Bryan Conover led the Cowboys effort with 15 points and Thompson added 11. Matt Bahl led the Tigers with 23 points and Michael Reich had 21. The difference in the game came at the free throw line, as the Tigers hit 23-of-28, while the Cowboys were 16-of-23. HSU took a four-point lead with 7:10 to go in the game, but Colorado College responded with a quick 10-0 run that included back-to-back 3-pointers by Bahl. The Cowboys fall to 3-7 with the loss and Colorado College improves to 7-8 on the year. HSU returns to action Thursday when it hosts Louisiana College at 7:30 p.m. |
