Houston Wins Its Third Straight Tennis Match With Victory Over Louisville

Houston, Texas - The University of Houston women's tennis team won its third straight match when the Lady Cougars opened its Conference USA schedule with a 6-1 victory over Louisville at the John E Hoff Varsity Courts Thursday morning.

Ranked among the nation's top 75 teams for the first time this week, Houston won the top five singles matches. Miranda Foley, Biljana Dimovska, Diana Martin, Yolandi Terblanche and Kami Miller recorded wins for the Lady Cougars. Louisville's Natalie Lazskowski won the number six singles match.

The Lady Cougars also won all three doubles matches. Foley and Dimovska teamed to win the number one doubles match over Michele Spiess and Julia Hierl, 8-1. Martin and Karine Urbin defeated Kelly Taylor and Lazskowski in the number two double match, 8-4. Terblanche and Miller teamed to defeat Christina Gogol and Paige Beer, 8-1, in the number three doubles match.

The victory over Louisville improves Houston's overall victory to 7-7. The Lady Cougars play at Rice in a non-conference match Friday, March 26. The Lady Cougars will play their second Conference USA match of the season at noon, on Sunday, March 28, when Houston plays host to TCU.
