HOUSTON - University of Houston junior Ginni van Katwijk was honored Tuesday as the Conference USA Diver of the Week.

It was the first weekly honor for van Katwijk but the seventh weekly honor for a Cougar diver this season. With that, each member of the Cougar Diving program has been named C-USA Diver of the Week at least once in 2006-07.

van Katwijk was the Cougars' leading performer during a quad meet against Conference USA rival Rice, New Orleans and host LSU last weekend in Baton Rouge, La.. The Grootebroek, Netherlands, native finished third in both diving events, tallying 266.92 points on the 1-meter springboard and a career-best 303.83 points in the 3-meter event.

Rice's Brittany Massengale was named the C-USA Swimmer of the Week.

van Katwijk and her Cougar teammates return to action on Feb. 14-17 when they play host to the 2007 C-USA Women's Swimming and Diving Championship and Men's Invitational at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium. This marks the fourth straight season that UH will play host to the C-USA postseason event.
