Softball Swept By DePaul
March 23, 2005 HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team dropped its third straight game of the Conference USA series to the DePaul Blue Demons on Wednesday afternoon at the Cougar Softball Field by a score of 5-1. The loss evens up Houston's C-USA record at 3-3 with an overall mark of 18-14, while the Blue Demons go 3-0 in their C-USA opening series and improve to 11-10 on the year. Junior Brandi Clark scored the lone run on the day for the Cougars in the fifth inning, after reaching base on a double to right center, and then reaching home off an RBI single by senior Jeanie Davis. The run tied up the two teams at an even 1-1 with two innings left to play. DePaul then added three runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to take the game 5-1 and improved its all-time record over the Cougars to 13-2. Freshman pitcher Barbie Love (2-5) threw 5.2 innings with five hits that translated into four runs with just two of the runs being earned. Houston's C-USA schedule continues this weekend with the Cougars making their second straight weekend trip to North Carolina, this time facing ECU for a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday.
