UH Golf Team Moves into Fourth Place at Carpet Capital Classic
DALTON, GA (Oct. 2)-- The University of Houston golf team shot four-over par 292 to move from sixth into fourth place after two full rounds of play at the Carpet Capitol Classic Tournament Saturday afternoon in Dalton, Georgia. The Cougars (581, +5) are now 15 shots behind tournament leader Georgia Tech (567, -9) heading into Sundays final round at The Farm course.
Houston was paced by senior Chris Morris three-under par 69, the fourth-best individual round of the day at the 6,906-yard par 72 course. Morris 36-hole total of four-under par 140 is tied for third in the 75-player field and four strokes behind individual tournament leader Bryce Molder of Georgia Tech (136, -8). Cougar senior B.J. Staten meanwhile was steady in shooting a one-under par 71 to move to three-over for the tournament.
