Massachusetts victorious over Holy Cross

Sept. 27, 2004

Amherst, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team was defeated by Massachusetts , 1-4, Monday afternoon in what would be the 200 th victory for Minutemen Head Coach Jim Rudy.

The Crusaders were only able to muster one goal out of six attempts. Junior Allison Hayes (Baldwin, N.Y.) scored her first collegiate-goal 12-yards out on a pass from sophomore Lauren Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.) with four minutes remaining in the first half.

Keeper Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) faced five shots and made one save for Holy Cross, while Kristin Walker stopped five shots for Massachusetts .

Four different Minutemen scored goals, including senior Lindsey Fairweather (Kingston, Mass.) and freshmen Jenny Roehrig (Coram, N.Y.), Britt Canfield (Granville, Mass.) and Caitlin Footit (Westfield, Mass.).

Massachusetts grabs its second win of the season, improving to 2-5, while the Crusaders record falls to 1-7.

Holy Cross will return home on Wednesday, Sept. 29, when they take on Quinnipiac at 4 p.m.
