Oct. 6, 2006

Box Score

WORCESTER, Mass. - American's Katelynn Donovan scored an unassisted goal at 1:46 into the game that would prove to be the difference as American defeated Holy Cross, 1-0, in Patriot League women's soccer action Friday night at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-9-2 (0-1-1 Patriot League), while the Eagles improve to 7-4-1 (1-1-0 Patriot League).

With ten minutes remaining, the Crusaders had an opportunity to tie it up when senior Kristen Locke (Martinsville, N.J.) passed to junior Alison Peters (Bolton, Mass.) but the shot went just wide. Peters led the Crusaders with two shots on goal while senior captain Lauren Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.) and junior Meighan Kelly (Colts Neck, N.J.) each registered a shot on goal. The Eagles outshot the Crusaders 19-8.

Reigning Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week junior Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) made six saves, while American goalkeeper Alison Doyle made four saves for the win.

The Crusaders return to action when they host Navy at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium this Sunday, at noon.
