Manchester, N.H. - Top-seeded Saint Anselm erupted for three third period goals as the Hawks upended third-seeded Holy Cross to claim the 2005 ECAC Women's Open Tournament Championship by a score of 4-2 at Sullivan Arena on Sunday.

Holy Cross got on the board first when Kathleen Remsberg's (Arlington, Mass.) floated a clearing pass towards the Saint Anselm end but found the back of the net when the puck squibbed through goalie Andrea Berlin's (Durham, N.H.) legs at the 10:09 mark. Samantha Murphy (Canton, Mass.) assisted on the goal.

Jubinville got the equalizer for Saint Anselm with a wrister from the blue line at 14:37 for a power play goal.

Sarah Wetherbee (Canton, Mass.) put Holy Cross out in front in the second period with a goal 4:08 into the second period as she knocked Samantha Rush's (Wakefield, Mass.) rebound shot past Berlin.

With the Hawks trailing, 2-1, Emily Lapworth (Milton, Mass.) picked up a rebound and shot it over the Crusader's goalie Casey McCullion (Philadelphia, Penn.) to knot the score at 2-2 with nine minutes to play.

Almost four minutes later, Bevin Padgett (Needham, Mass.) gave the Hawks their first lead of the game with a goal off a pass from Melissa Jubinville (Agawam, Mass.) and Danielle Campbell (Milton, Mass.).

McCullion made 25 saves for the Crusaders, as Berlin halted 10 shots on goal for the win.

Campbell, the Tournament MVP, gave Saint Anselm an insurance goal at the 16:43 mark, her second of the tournament to go along with four assists.

With the win, Saint Anselm concludes their inaugural season with a 21-3-1 record. Holy Cross finishes 12-14-1.
