Troy, N.Y. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team was shutout by No. 9 Rensselaer, 5-0, Saturday afternoon in an ECAC East game.

The Crusaders posted only nine shots on goal, while RPI notched 45. Sophomore netminder Casey McCullion (Philadelphia, Pa.) made a season-high 40 shots on goal for Holy Cross.

Five different players scored goals for Engineers, as sophomore Rosina Schiff made nine saves in net for the win.

Brooke Thompson opened up the scoring with a goal at 7:19 in the first. She was assisted by Julie Aho.

RPI would score two power play goals in the second, increasing its margin by three. Julie Welte posted her ninth goal of the season at 5:07, with help from Meredith Langille and Sarah Daniel. With 49 seconds remaining in the game, Langille netted her third tally of the season.

The Engineers added two more markers in the third period, for a final score of 5-0. Katie Temple found the back of the net at 5:15 in the stanza. Paula Durham scored the RPI's last goal of the game at 13:56.

The Crusaders, who are now 7-7-0 overall and 6-4-0 in the ECAC, return to Troy, N.Y. for a rematch against Rensselaer on Sunday, Jan. 16 at 1 p.m.
