Holy Cross Women's Hockey Was Defeated Tonight by Colby, 5-3.

Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team fell to Colby College, 5-3, tonight in non-conference action. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 5-3-1 overall (3-1-0 ECAC), while Colby improves to 4-4-2 overall. Freshman Christina D'Ambrogio (Toronto, Ontario), sophomore Kathryn Kelley (Dedham, Mass.) and junior Stephanie Couzin (Chicago, Ill.) each scored a goal for the night.

Colby College jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period with a goal by Becky Julian at 2:58 into the period. D'Ambrogio would answer back with a goal scored at 5:08 into the period assisted by freshman Colleen Krmpotich (Minneapolis, Minn.). Goalie freshman Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) would have 10 saves.

In the second period, Colby increased its lead to 4-2 with three straight goals made by Erin Colette Finley at 3:22, Becky Julian at 5:04 and Amanda Comeau at 12:51. Kelley answered back putting the puck into the net at 16:10 with an assists from sophomore Katelyn Doherty (Toronto, Ontario) bringing the score to 4-2.

Connecticut College led the third period with a goal by Elissa Kurtz at 1:10. Couzin would push forward scoring unassisted at 13:44 but it wouldn't be enough for the Crusaders.

Gallant made 19 saves on 24 attempts for the night. Colby goalie Lacey Brown made 43 saves on 48 attempts. Holy Cross out shot Colby by a 46-25 margin. The Crusaders went 2-3 on the power play and Connecticut College went 0-3.

The Crusaders return to action January 12th when they take on MIT at the Hart center at 2:00 p.m.
