Kerman Named Patriot League Co-Defensive

Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross senior Cat Kerman (Glens Falls, NY) was selected the Patriot League's Co-Defensive Player of the Year, as announced by the League this afternoon. Kerman, the team's co-captain, was named to the League's First Team for the first time in her career yesterday.

Kerman, the Crusaders' top defensive midfielder, led the Holy Cross defensive unit to a Top 20 national ranking this season, holding opponents to just a 1.33 goals per game average. A Second Team selection in 2002 and 2003, Kerman started all 18 games for the Crusaders this season, and is first on the team in tackles (56), and second on the team in interceptions (71). She has also contributed offensively with two goals and three assists for seven points, good for fifth on the team. For her career, Kerman has 247 interceptions, and is the only Holy Cross senior who has started every game (75) throughout her four-year career.

Kerman shares the award with Colgate senior midfielder Kath Shelley.

Holy Cross finished its regular season with an 11-7-0 overall record. The Crusaders took third place in the Patriot League with a 3-2 conference record. The third-seeded Crusaders will face second-seeded Colgate in the first round of the Patriot League tournament this weekend, Saturday, Novemeber 6th at 1:00 p.m.
