NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Junior Sara O'Coin (Worcester, Mass.) had a hat trick to lead Holy Cross field hockey over Yale 5-1 in non-conference action Sunday.

O'Coin scored two in the first half to give Holy Cross a 2-0 lead. The first goal was from Laura Cohen (Summit, N.J.) and the second was unassisted. Yale scored one goal at 33:32, but the Crusaders did not allow them to score again.

In the second half, Carolyn Connelly (Greenland, N.H.) scored her first goal of the season unassisted and O'Coin had her third goal of the game and her ninth of the season from Kristin Schulz (Fairfield, Conn.). Eli Skovron (Exeter, N.H.) scored her second goal of the season on a penalty shot at 69:43.

Holy Cross out shot Yale 26-16. Erin Singleton (Amesbury, Mass.) recorded five saves for the win.

The Crusaders improve to 8-3 overall and tied for the all-time second most consecutive wins in a season with six. Yale falls to 2-7 on the season.

Holy Cross is back in action Friday when they travel to play Colgate at 11:00 a.m.
