WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore Jonathan Medeiros (New Bedford, Mass.) has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week, for competition from April 16-22. Last week, Medeiros won two events as the Holy Cross men's track and field team finished first in a six-team home meet which included American International College, Central Connecticut, Colgate, Hartford and Maine, while scoring 22 of the team's 200 points

In Saturday's meet, Medeiros won the discus with a personal-best throw of 148 feet, 11 inches. He also claimed first place in the shot put, with a distance of 47 feet, three inches. In addition to winning those two events, Medeiros also placed seventh in the hammer with a throw of 129 feet, 11 inches.

Medeiors' throw of 148 feet, 11 inches in the discus qualifies him for the 2007 New England Championship, and is also the fifth-best toss in the Patriot League this season.

The Crusaders are back in action on Sunday, April 29, when they take part in the Brown Springtime Invitational.
