Crusader Men Take On Field at UNH

DURHAM, N.H. - The Holy Cross men's track and field team competed on Saturday afternoon at the New Hampshire Wildcat Invitational. Freshman Nathaniel Couture (Taunton, Mass.) was victorious for the third consectutive week in the javelin throw for the Crusaders.

Couture defeated the field by over eight meters with a toss of 54.99 meters. The freshman continued his solid run in the javelin after wins in the Southern Connecticut State Invitational and the Worcester City Meet.

Sophomore Kevin Dowd (Broad Brook, Conn.) also highlighted the day for Holy Cross, taking second in the men's triple jump. Dowd was edged by Eric Hoagland of UMass-Amherst in the event despite his jump of 12.78 meters.

Freshman Andrew Maggio (Chelmsford, Mass.) took third place overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.36, just 0.27 second off the pace by winner Lawrence Aidoo of UMass-Lowell.

Also putting together a strong showing for the Crusaders was junior Christopher Bier (Rockville Center, N.Y.), who finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.20.

Junior Nicholas Carr (Concord, Mass.) continued his solid spring season with a third place finish in the men's weight throw. Carr's best toss of the afternoon was 49.80 meters.

Next Saturday, April 15 the Crusader men will be competing at the Northeastern Invitational in Dedham, Mass. beginning at 10:00 a.m.
