PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Oct. 29, 2006

Elmhurst, Ill. - Cal Poly has been one of the top defensive teams in I-AA and linebacker Kyle Shotwell has been an anchor at the linebacker position. Shotwell had 12 tackles, including a school I-AA-record four sacks in Cal Poly's 16-14 win over San Diego State to earn the Great West Defensive Player of the Week, announced today by the league office. Kicker Nick Coromelas' 37-yard field goal with 1:50 remaining gave Cal Poly the win over the I-A opponent to earn Special Teams Player of the Week. South Dakota State's come-from-behind win over UC Davis was led by quarterback Andy Kardoes, who passed for 278 yards and the game-winning touchdown with 1:08 left to earn the weekly Offensive honor.
