Elmhurst, Ill. - Players of the Week from Week No. 6
North Dakota State opened up defense of its Great West title with a solid 35-16 win over visiting UC Davis Saturday night and two workmanlike performances earned league Player of the Week honors. Runningback Tyler Roehl earned his second Offensive Player of the Week honor as he rushed for 75 yards in 14 carries with three touchdown, and return specialist John Majeski answered a UC Davis scoring drive with a 70-yard kickoff return to give the Bison good field position to earn Special Teams Player of the Week. On the defensive side of the ball, Southern Utah gave No. 13 Montana State all it could handle in a 7-3 defeat, and cornerback DeWayne Lewis was contributing factor. Lewis had just seven tackles, but five were of the solo variety, including two sacks and three tackles for losses. The junior also forced a fumble and broke up a key pass that forced Montana State to punt and give the Thunderbirds a chance to win the game late in the fourth quarter.
