GREAT WEST COACHES PICK NDSU TO REPEAT

Aug. 21, 2007

Elmhurst, Ill. - The Great West coaches confirmed what every other poll has already generated - North Dakota State is picked to repeat the league title in 2007, based on a poll of just Great West coaches. The Bison received four first-place votes (coaches could not vote for their own team) and look to run the table again this season with a perfect league record.

The Bison return eight starters on an offense that ranked sixth nationally in scoring offense (34 ppg), ninth in total offense (398.91 ypg), 17th in rushing offense (193.82 ypg), including senior quarerback Steve Walker, who was the Great West Offensive Player of the Year. The Bison defense held nine of 11 opponents to 100 yards or less rushing during the season. NDSU was fourth in rushing defense (67.2 ypg), eighth in scoring defense (13.4 ppg), ninth in total defense (253.64 ypg).

Cal Poly was picked to finish second in the coaches poll, followed by UC Davis, South Dakota State and Southern Utah.
