Georgetown Women's Volleyball Hands Virginia Tech 3-0 Loss

Washington, DC Senior outside hitter Yulia Vtyurina (Moscow, Russia/Moscow #1415) and junior outside hitter Lauren Warner (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei) led GU offensively. Vtyurina ended the night with a match-high 17 kills in addition to nine digs, two assists and a block. Warner recorded her ninth double-double of the season with a match-high 14 digs and 10 kills. Annie Spicer led Virginia Tech with 11 kills, five digs and two aces. Junior setter Jen Ward (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) passed out a match-high 46 assists to go with six digs, two kills and an ace. Freshman middle blocker Sara Albert (Davis, Calif./Davis) once again turned in a match-high hitting percentage of .579 on the strength of 13 kills with just two errors in 19 attempts. She also tallied two blocks on the night. Sophomore middle blocker Laura Hart (Sacramento, Calif./Rio Americano) is making the most of her starting role since Anna Kleinsorge was sidelined by injuries. Hart posted seven kills, 12 digs, a block, an ace and an assist over the three-game match. She also hit .429 (seven kills with only one error in 14 attempts). Senior outside hitter Meg Mullen (Westlake Village, Calif./Westlake) added six kills, seven digs and an ace, while junior defensive specialist Anna Sones (Pasadena, Calif./Polytechnic School) contributed six digs and two aces. The Hoyas hit .291 for the match, including a .424 for the first game, while holding the Hokies to just .098. Tech did have the advantage in team blocks, 6-3. |
