Georgetown Volleyball Finishes Season with 3-0 Loss at Seton Hall

Washington, D.C. - Senior Rachel Nelson (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) tallied 16 kills and nine digs in her final collegiate match but it wasn't enough as the Georgetown University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-28, 30-20, 30-26) decision at Seton Hall in the final game of the 2005 season. The Hoyas conclude their season with a 6-22 overall record, 2-12 in BIG EAST action. Sophomore Katie Nulty (Santa Barbara, Calif./Laguna Blanca) posted 11 kills to go along with eight digs while freshman Katherine Niesen (Gainesville, Fla./Eastside) nailed seven kills and hit a team-best .333. Freshman Caitlin Boland (Naperville, Ill./Benet Acad.) handed out 46 assists, her fourth highest output of the season and had a team-high ten digs. Georgetown trailed most of the first game but battled to take a 25-23 lead on a Nulty kill. Seton Hall scored the next five points and edged the Hoyas, 30-28. GU hit .071 to the Pirates' .205 in the opening game. In game three, the Hoyas led 13-9 and 17-13 but Seton Hall tied the game at 26-26 and won the game's final four points. Nelson finishes her career with more than 1,000 kills, more than 100 blocks, 32 double-doubles and just under 900 digs.
