WASHINGTON, DC - The Georgetown University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to the visiting University of Pittsburgh Panthers in BIG EAST action at the Hoyas' McDonough Gym. Georgetown falls to 5-11 overall, 1-3 in the BIG EAST while Pittsburgh improved to 10-7 overall, 3-1 in league play.

Georegetown received seven kills apiece from Annie Connor (Los Altos, Calif./Laguna Blanca), Rachel Nelson (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) and Jenny Weed (Salt Lake City, Utah/Utah Val. College), while Connor hit a team-best 35%. Freshman Caitlin Boland (Naperville, Ill./Benet Acad.) and Kate Fisher (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo) handed out 12 and 11 assists, respectively.

The Hoyas were plagued by a .078 hitting percentage while Pittsburgh hit .306 for the game.

Three Panthers notched double-figure kills. Senior Gini Ullery (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) posted a game-high 13 kills and a .435 hitting percentage while Ashley White (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) and Diana Andreyko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) had 11 kills each.

Pittsburgh's Megan McGrane (Muncie, Ind./Delta) handled a game-best 26 digs as the Panthers improved their road record to 5-1 this season.

In the first game, the visitors raced out to a 21-11 advantage and hit .290 for the game. The second game was neck-and-neck until Pittsburgh turned a 21-18 bulge into the 30-26 win. In game three, Georgetown was plagued by a .059 hitting percentage and Pittsburgh opened the game on a 6-1 lead and the closest the Hoyas would get would be 22-15.

Georgetown, who is now 0-6 at home, is back in action again on Saturday, October 8, when they travel to Villanova for a BIG EAST match that is slated for 2 p.m.
