Georgetown Women's Soccer Defeats Florida International, 2-1
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 20) - Freshman midfielder Jen Choiniere (Merrimack, N.H./Bishop Guertin) scored the game-winning goal as Georgetown defeated Florida International, 2-1, on Oct. 20. The Hoyas improve to 8-7-2 overall, while the Golden Panthers fall to 10-5 on the season. Junior midfielder Kelly Piatanesi (Danville, Calif./Carondelet) put Georgetown on the board, scoring the first goal of the game, and the first of her career, at 17:05. The Hoyas led at halftime, 1-0. In the second half, Florida International knotted the game at one when Katherine Sund converted a pass from Nicola Bell in the 50th minute. Georgetown sealed the victory at 82:49, when Choiniere netted her sixth goal of the season off a corner kick by junior defender Alyson Smith (Parsippany, N.J./Morris Catholic). Junior goalkeeper Shereena Chang (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) tallied two saves for Georgetown, while Julie Rehberg had one save for the Golden Panthers.
