Women's Soccer Ranked #5 in Mid-Atlantic by Soccer Buzz
Sept. 21, 2005 WASHINGTON, DC - Georgetown women's soccer (7-1-1) is ranked #5 in the Mid-Atlantic Region by Soccer Buzz Magazine. This was released on their website www.soccerbuzz.com on Monday evening.
This is Georgetown's highest Soccer Buzz regional ranking ever and it follows a five game winning streak for the Hoyas. In the past week the Hoyas have defeated American University (2-0), Towson University (3-0) and the University of Delaware (2-0). Georgetown also won the 2005 Delaware Blue Hen adidas Classic and named four players to the All-Tournament Team: seniors Ashley Darcy (Coral Springs, FL), Alexandra Hardy (Lakewood, CA) and Shara McNeill (Avon, CT) as well as sophomore Lindsey Appezzato (Davis, CA). Also contributing to their success is BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending September 18, sophomore Jade Higgins (Island Park, NY).
Soccer Buzz Polls are conducted weekly throughout the collegiate soccer season and all 308 Division I programs are eligible for 2005. The Buzz Voting Panel consists of Soccer Buzz staff only.
Additionally, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America ranked Georgetown #9 in the Mid-Atlantic Region this week.
The Hoyas return to BIG EAST action this Friday, September 23 in Piscataway, NJ to face Rutgers University at 7 p.m.
