Washington, D.C. - The No. 22 ranked Marquette women's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 67-52 win over the host Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday afternoon at McDonough Arena. The Hoyas fall to 12-13, 2-10 in BIG EAST Conference action.

Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) led the Hoyas with 17 points, 13 in the second half, and a game-high nine rebounds while Aminata Diop (Saint Louis, Senegal/Ameth Fall) scored 14 points off the bench, going 5-for-6 from the field.

With 8:57 to play in the first half, a jumper by Meredith Cox (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) put Georgetown on top 17-16, but the Hoyas did not score the remainder of the first half and Marquette went on a 15-0 run to take a 31-17 lead to the lockerrooms at halftime.

Marquette (20-4, 8-3 BE) received a game-high 27 points from Christina Quaye, including 10-for-10 from the charity stripe to go along with five rebounds while Krystal Ellis added 14 points.

Kristin Heidloff (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) scored all eight of her points in the second half, connecting on two three-pointers while grabbing four rebounds. Cox also finished with eight points and tied a career-high with four steals. As a team, the Golden Eagles shot 47 percent from the floor as opposed to 32 percent by the Hoyas. Free throws also played a large part in the outcome as Marquette made 21-25 and Georgetown finished 8-15. The Hoyas also struggled from beyond the arc converting only 4-22 three-point attempts.

Trailing 51-31, the Hoyas went on an 11-2 run to cut the lead to 53-42 at the 6:17 mark, but could draw no closer. Georgetown was able to cut into the lead by scoring 17 points off Marquette turnovers in the second half alone.

The Hoyas return to action next Saturday when they host Syracuse on February 17 in a BIG EAST tilt that tips at 3 p.m.
