Osborne Qualifies for BIG EAST in Shot Put at Mason Spring Invitational

Washington, D.C. - Freshman Buky Bamigboye (Brentwood, Tenn./University School) highlighted the action for the Georgetown outdoor track & field team at the Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday, held at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va. She won the women's 400m hurdles, while also part of the Hoyas first place 4x400m relay team.

In the 400m hurdles, Bamigboye crossed in a BIG EAST Championship qualifying time of 1:03.71. Classmate Sonya Sullivan (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) was fifth at 1:06.65.

Meanwhile, in the 4x400m relay, Bamigboye joined with junior Jayne Penn (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) and freshmen Charlena Tillett (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and Claire Buckley (Washington, D.C./National Cathedral School) to post a time of 3:55.75, winning the event by over three seconds.

In other women's action, senior Sabine Knothe (Dortmund, Germany/Mallinckrodt-Gymnasium) was fourth in the 1500m with a time of 4:52.24. Also, Penn and Tillett finished fifth and sixth in the 400m with times of 57.65 and 57.73, respectively.

For the men, freshman Khyle Osborne (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) was fourth in the shot put with a BIG EAST qualifying distance of 15.34m.
