Hoyas Fourth After Day One of IC4A Championship

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown men's indoor track & field team stands in fourth place after opening day action at the 2006 IC4A Championship, hosted by Boston University on Saturday. With 11 points, the Hoyas trail Manhattan (28.50), Rutgers (18) and Army (12) in early action.

Junior Brian Dalpiaz (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) and senior Charlie Millioen (Blue Point, N.Y./St. Anthony's) earned the only points for Georgetown, placing third and fourth in the 3000m final. Both set personal bests, crossing in 8:10.98 and 8:11.24, respectively.

Freshman Kenny Mitchell (Atlanta, GA./Westlake) also set a personal record with a NCAA provisional time of 21.39 in the 200m trials, qualifying for Sunday's final with the championship's fifth fastest time.

Also qualifying for Sunday's finals were freshman Terrell Gissendanner (Rochester, N.Y./Edison Tech) in the 55m hurdles at 7.66, junior Rasheed Thompson (Herndon, Va./Herndon) in the 1000m with a time of 2:26.28 and sophomore Brandon Bonsey (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) in the mile with a personal best time of 4:10.78.

Two Hoya relay teams move onto action tomorrow, as the distance medley relay team was third in qualifying with a time of 9:56.80 and the 4x800m relay squad was eighth at 7:37.32.

Competition for Georgetown at Boston University begins tomorrow at 11 a.m.
