Georgetown Men’s Soccer Ties #1 St. John’s Through Two Overtimes
11/2/2002 WASHINGTON, D.C. – Playing against the #1 team in the country and fighting for a spot in the BIG EAST Championship, Georgetown tied St. John’s 0-0 in Saturday afternoon men’s soccer action on North Kehoe Field. Through 110 minutes of play the two teams battled to a hard fought scoreless draw. Georgetown goalkeeper Tim Hogan (Richmond, Va./Freeman) and his sturdy defense helped blank the Red Storm, allowing just seven shots on goal through two overtime periods. Hogan roamed the Hoya end, charging out to quash a number of promising St. John’s attacks and relying on the excellent defensive play of Jeff Curtin (Oreland, Pa./Germantown Academy) and Dan Gargan (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) to contain the speedy Red Storm forwards. Hogan finished the afternoon with six saves and Kaiser Chowdhry (Columbia, Md./McDonogh) led all Georgetown attackers with three shots. Georgetown plays its final BIG EAST game of the season on Monday November 4th at 2:30 p.m. against West Virginia in Morgantown, W.Va. |
