Four Hoyas Earn All-American Honors in Men's Lacrosse
May 30, 2001 WASHINGTON, DC -- Four Georgetown University men's lacrosse players have been named to the 2001 STX/USILA Division I All-America Lacrosse Team. The four All-America selections for Georgetown are the third-highest total in school history. Steve Dusseau (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) was a First-Team selection. The junior, who was the ECAC Lacrosse League's Offensive Player of the Year, became just the second First Team selection in school history. Greg McCavera was a first-team pick in 1999. Last season, Dusseau was an Honorable Mention selection. Sophomore Kyle Sweeney (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) was a Third Team All-America selection. Sweeney was the ECAC's Defensive Player of the Year this season. Seniors Scott Doyle (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) and Rodger Colbert (Irvington, N.J./The Peddie School) were named Honorable Mention All-Americans. The Hoyas finished the season with an 11-3 record. GU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth-straight season. |
