Georgetown Defeats Duke, 14-7
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The fourth-ranked Georgetown Hoyas remained unbeaten with a 14-7 victory against #10 Duke, 14-7. Steve Dusseau (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Trevor Walker (Haverford, Pa./Episcopal Academy) each scored three goals, while goalkeeper Scott Schroder (Summit, N.J./Summit) had an outstanding game in the cage to spark the victory. Dusseau added three assists while Schroeder made a season-high 17 saves as GU improved to 6-0 with the win and recorded its 14th-straight win at home.Duke opened the scoring when Kevin Brennan scored less than three minutes into the game. The Hoyas tied the game when Jamie Sharpe (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) scored the first of his two goals with 6:32 remaining in the period. It started a 5-0 GU run which gave the Hoyas control of the game. Walker put the Hoyas ahead with a pair of goals within a 45 second span early in the second period. Dusseau would score twice in the period and Scott Doyle (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) added another to give GU a 6-2 lead at the break. Duke was unable to cut the lead to under four goals the rest of the way. Kevin Cassese (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) led the Blue Devils with four goals and an assist. He had two goals in both the third and fourth quarters. GU senior tri-captain Mike Henehan (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) had his first two goals of the season and also handed out a pair of assists. Freshman Neal Goldman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) scored twice for the Hoyas, while sophomore Mike Hammer (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) had three points with a goal and two assists. Georgetown returns to ECAC play on Sunday, April 1, when they play against the Naval Academy in Annapolis at 12 p.m.
