3/23/2004

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University senior captain Andrew Braziel (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) was selected as the ECAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending March 21st. It is the first ECAC weekly award for Braziel and marks the third straight week that a Georgetown defensive player has been honored.

In a 2-0 week for the Hoyas with victories over Delaware and Hobart, Braziel marked both team’s leading scorers and held them to a combined one goal and one assist. He also recorded seven caused turnovers and nine groundballs. In the Delaware win Braziel held the Blue Hens’ leading point man Cam Howard to one goal and one assist and shutout Hobart’s top gun, Nate Hill. Braziel and the Hoya defense held its fourth straight opponent to under 10 goals.

Georgetown faces its stiffest road test thus far in 2004 this Saturday, March 27th, when the Hoyas travel to Durham, N.C. to face-off with #7 Duke at 1 p.m.
