Georgetown University Head Men's Golf Coach Tommy Hunter announced that two student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the squad for the 2008-09 academic year.

Brian Dorfman is a senior at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colo. He qualified for the 2007 United States Junior Amateur at Boone Valley Golf Club in Augusta, Mo. earlier this year. Considered one of the most consistent junior players in the nation this past summer, Dorfman competed in 14 national events on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) and Callaway Tours. During the summer, he played 25 competitive rounds and posted a 73.40 scoring average.

Dorfman was the No. 3-ranked junior in the state of Colorado and was a qualifier for the 2008 FCWT Championship, being held at PGA National in West Palm Beach, Fla. in January.

Also joining the squad for the Class of 2012 is Taylor Hall, a senior at Blessed Trinity High School in Roswell, Ga. Hall is ranked among the top-285 golfers by the AJGA and is considered one of Georgia's top junior golfers. He placed sixth overall at the AJGA Rome Classic in 2007, posting scores of 73, 73 and 66, one of the lowest competitive rounds.

Hall was selected to the All-Tournament Team at the 2007 Georgia-South Carolina Cup after posting consecutive rounds of 74 and was selected to the team in 2006 after posting the lowest score in the final round with a 72.

"We are very excited to have Brian and Taylor join our program," Hunter said. "Both are very accomplished golfers with a great deal of national exposure. Playing golf at the level they did should help them adjust to the intercollegiate circuit. Not only are they gifted golfers, they are solid young men who have the utmost respect for the game and their competitors."

The Hoya men's golf team closed out the 2007 fall campaign in strong fashion, posting top-10 finishes in its last two tournaments. Georgetown tied for sixth place at the Big 5 Classic and then finished in sixth place at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. The Blue and Gray open the 2008 spring season on March 17, starting play at the William & Mary Invitational.
