Men’s Golf Finishes Third at BIG EAST Championship
4/25/2004 Complete Results Notre Dame, Ind. — Georgetown’s men’s golf team placed third for the second consecutive year at the 2004 BIG EAST Men’s Golf Championship held at the Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind. Georgetown shot at total of 896 (302-297-297) in the three round competition. Georgetown’s Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./ Central High School), who finished tied for fifth overall, and Nick Cook (Shelton, Conn./Fairfield Prep), who placed seventh, each received All-BIG EAST honors. Notre Dame won the event with an 876 while Virginia Tech finished second with an 882 total. Rounding out the six participating teams were Boston College in fourth (899), St. John’s in fifth (915) and Rutgers in sixth (919).Myers was the Hoyas’ top finisher at the Championship, shooting a nine over 219 and tying with Notre Dame’s Eric Deutsch in fifth place. Cook also cracked the top 10 on the leaderbord with a +12, 222, which earned him the seventh slot. David Erickson (Edina, Minn./The Blake School) and Jamie Farrah (Potomac, Md./ Georgetown Prep) tied for 15th place, each shooting a +18, 228. Closing out the Hoya fivesome was Tim Moynihan (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Franklin Regional) with a 257 and 30th place showing. Georgetown continues its 2004 season with a visit to State College, Pennsylvania to participate in the Penn State Invitational on Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1.
