Golfers Take Third at Navy Men's Spring Invitational

Washington, D.C.— Hoya golfers junior Nick Cook (Shelton, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and James Farrah (Potomac, Md./Georgetown Prep) both finished in the top five of the Navy Spring Invitational this past weekend, April 5-6, at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course, leading Georgetown to a terrific number three overall finish.

Five Hoyas shot a combined 291 on Saturday and a 292 on Sunday, combining for an overall score of 583. Georgetown competed against 20 teams and were edged out of the top two spots by only two strokes—Johnson and Wales and Navy both recorded an overall 581, with Navy winning in a playoff.

Cook shot a two under par 68 in the first round and a 73 in the second, combining for an overall 141. He tied for third place in the final tally of individual scores. Meanwhile, Farrah shot a 69 and 73, putting him one stroke behind Cook with a 142, good for fifth overall.

Sophomore Chad DeLuca (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) finished in 29th with a combined 151 (78, 73), tying with Hoya freshman David Erikson (Edina, Minn./The Blake School), who scored his 151 with rounds of 76 and 75. Finally, freshman Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./Central High School) scored a 154 (81, 73) to finish in a four-way tie for 48th.

Georgetown’s next event comes this Friday and Saturday, April 11-12, when the Hoyas travel to Princeton to participate in the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Course.
