Men’s Golf Finishes on Top at Kingsmill/William and Mary Invitational

JAMES CITY, Va.- Georgetown’s men’s golf program started the 2004 spring season the same way it ended the majority of the fall season, with a victory at the Kingsmill/William and Mary Invitational. The Hoyas shot a combined 589 (+21), defeating second place Richmond by three strokes. Rounding out the top five teams were ODU at third with a 602, GWU in fourth (605) and fifth place JMU (606).

Senior Nick Cook (Shelton, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and freshman Tim Moynihan (Potomac, Md./Georgetown Prep) led Georgetown’s comeback from second place after day one. Cook and Moynihan both finished tied for fifth overall (146, +5) with Cook firing a 73 both days and Moynihan carding a 74 and a 72.

Sophomore David Erickson (Edina, Minn./The Blake School) also finished in the top 10 overall, recording a 148 total, which tied with four other players at seventh overall. Senior James Farrah (Potomac, Md./ Georgetown Prep) closed his first tournament in the spring tied for 20th with a 151. Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./ Central High School) tied for 54th place overall shooting a 157.

Georgetown next participates in the East Carolina Pirate Invitational at the Bradford Creek Golf Club in Greenville, N.C. on Friday, April 2nd and Saturday, April 3rd.
