Georgetown Men's Golf Seventh After Two Rounds at Adams Cup of Newport

Washington, D.C. - Led by strong rounds from senior Matt Busa (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius), the Georgetown University men's golf team is in seventh place after two rounds of play at The Adams Cup, being played at the Newport National Golf Club in Newport, Rhode Island.

Busa led the Hoyas to a two-round score of 23-over par 599, only seven strokes off the pace of host Rhode Island in the field of 12 teams. URI leads at 16-over par 592, followed by South Florida (17-over par 593), Texas-San Antonio (18-over par 594), North Texas (19-over par 595), Florida Gulf Coast University (21-over par 597) and Marshall in sixth place (22-over par 598).

After a first round score of one-over par 73, Busa bounced back in the afternoon, carding a one-under par 71 to finish at even-par 144 and tie for fifth place overall. He is four strokes off the lead of Southern Mississippi's Joel Myrick, who leads the field of 63 golfers at four-under par 140.

Sophomore Tim Hager (Newton, Pa./Council Rock) is tied for 21st place at seven-over par 151, followed by senior Tim Moynihan (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional), who is tied for 31st place at nine-over par 153. Freshman Trevor Matese (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) is tied for 37th place at 10-over par 154 and classmate Donald Thomas (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) tied for 51st place at 14-over par 158.

The tournament's final round will be played on Wednesday.
